Media release: Clayton Utz advises New Forests on the sale of a 15,000 hectare timber estate

Clayton Utz has advised natural capital manager New Forests on the sale of the Limestone Estate, a 15,000 hectare timber estate, to Australian-owned forestry company OneFortyOne. The transaction is the largest acquisition in the forestry sector by an Australian owned firm in a decade.
The Limestone Estate includes forestry estates located in the Green Triangle region which borders Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia. The sale comprises of more than 200 freehold titles, leases of Crown land, water licences, various carbon projects, Australian carbon credit units and contractual arrangements for the harvesting, storage and selling of timber.
Real Estate partner Eva Oraham led the Clayton Utz team alongside core team members special counsel Philipa Thomson, as well as lawyers Emil Obaid and Tali Singer.
Ms Oraham said it was a pleasure to work with New Forests on the sale of the Limestone Estate, which she described as significant in its scale and complex from a legal perspective.
It was a full circle matter for us which is a testament to the longstanding nature of our relationship, as we acted on New Forests' acquisition of the assets 11 years ago. We look forward to continuing to support New Forests in future.
Supporting the complex transaction, the broader and multi-disciplinary Clayton Utz team included Michael Corrigan, Keshni Maharaj, Brendan Bateman, Damien Gardiner, Lucy Shea, Craig Hine, Jerome Martin, Pina Guzzardi, Simon Ellis, Klay Brown, Venetia Stewart, Regina Bradford and Oscar Sach-Haber.
