Notable Work
  • New Acland Coal Pty Ltd: advised on Stage 3 expansion, including objections hearings in the Land Court, successful Supreme Court judicial review and Court of Appeal, instructed senior counsel for High Court proceedings
  • Triple Flag Precious Metals: advised it and its subsidiary, Maverix Metals (Australia) Pty Ltd, on protection and enforcement of gold royalty rights, including registration of dealings and caveats and negotiating commingling arrangements
  • JARE: regularly advises on its investment in Lynas Rare Earths Limited, which included offtake arrangements for critical minerals.
  • New Acland Coal Pty Ltd: advises on its water licensing, including representing it in Land Court appeals pertaining to the grant and conditions of its associated water licence
  • Idemitsu Australia Pty Ltd: acted in negotiations for compensation for landholders subject to the proposed expansion to Ensham Resources Coal Mine
  • Origin Energy Upstream Operator Pty Ltd: advises on its conduct and compensation arrangements with landholders, including defending claims in the Land Court of Queensland
  • State of Queensland Minister: represents the Minister in a Land Court appeal of the State's decisions not to grant petroleum tenures
  • Natural gas producer: assisted one of Australia's largest producers and exporters in due diligence assessment for their A$231 million acquisition of the "Ironbark" natural gas project from Origin Energy Ltd.
  • Maverix Metals Inc: advised on its due diligence assessment and acquisition of Australian royalty rights as part of an acquisition of multinational acquisition of royalty portfolio from Gold Fields Netherlands Services B.V
  • ITOCHU Corporation: advised its Australian subsidiary, ITOCHU Minerals and Energy of Australia Pty Ltd, on its acquisition of a 30% interest in Fitzroy
