Amy is a specialist native title and Aboriginal cultural heritage lawyer. She has led the negotiation of native title agreements, managed native title claims and acted on complex native title and cultural heritage litigation. Amy advises on all aspects of native title, cultural heritage and Aboriginal land rights law, including law reform.
Amy has extensive experience working for a range of clients including energy, mining and critical minerals and infrastructure proponents, government and traditional owners.
Amy is particularly interested in the interaction between native title, human rights and ESG. Prior to her time in private practice, Amy was a Principal Government Lawyer for Crown Law and a lawyer for the Government Legal Department in the UK.
Department of Transport and Main Roads (Queensland): advised on native title, cultural heritage and human rights issues for the Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail Project and advised on cultural heritage arrangements for The Wave Project.
Bureau of Meteorology: advised on submissions to the Australian Law Reform Commission's review of the future act procedures in the Native Title Act, advised on cultural heritage arrangements for a Queensland-based project, advised on the Barkly Region Indigenous Land Use Agreement in the Northern Territory, advised on native title for infrastructure projects nationally and advised on cultural heritage processes nationally.
Queensland Hydro: advised on native title and Aboriginal cultural heritage issues for transfer of Queensland Hydro to QIC.
Gold Coast City Council: advised on various native title and cultural heritage issues.
ACEnergy: advised on native title and Aboriginal land rights issues for projects in NSW.
Idemitsu: advised on cultural heritage issues for the Boggabri Coal Mine in NSW.
Seqwater: advised on cultural heritage for the Wyaralong Water Treatment Plant project.
Department of Defence: advised on cultural heritage processes nationally, advised on various native title issues and land acquisition processes.
Amplitel: acted in native title claims in the Federal Court of Australia (over 60 claims nationally), as well as providing native title and cultural heritage advice in relation to sites around Australia.*
BHP: advised on native title compensation, negotiation strategy and operational native title and cultural heritage queries for BHP in relation to sites in Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia. Amy also drafted native title agreements and advised on native title and cultural heritage for major transactions.*
Lendlease: advised on the Yarrabilba Cultural Heritage Management Agreement in Queensland. *
RWE: provided strategic native title and cultural heritage advice, prepared draft documents, and participated in negotiation meetings for RWE's Queensland based project. *
