Clayton Utz has advised on a full range of legal and commercial project requirements for two major Sydney Metro West packages - the Stations Package West station contract and the appointment of a Precinct Development Partner for the Hunter Street Station and Precinct.

These awards mark significant milestones for the city‑shaping Sydney Metro West project as it accelerates towards delivering faster, more reliable journeys between the Sydney CBD and Greater Parramatta.

Clayton Utz advised on the development of the Stations Package West contract, under which Gamuda was awarded the contract to design and construct five new underground metro stations at Westmead, North Strathfield, Burwood North, Five Dock and The Bays.  Each station is being designed as a gateway to world‑class metro services and as a catalyst for vibrant, place‑making outcomes reflecting the local context and aspirations of each area.

The firm also advised Sydney Metro on the procurement and contracting for the appointment of the Metropolis Consortium (comprising Lendlease, Mirvac and Coombes Property Group) as the Precinct Development Partner for Hunter Street Station and Precinct - one of the most significant urban renewal opportunities in the Sydney CBD.

The Clayton Utz team advising Sydney Metro was led by partners Nikki Robinson and Lina Fischer and supported by partner Stuart Cosgriff, special counsels Larissa Burnett and John Clayton, senior associates Jason Hooper, Chris Bannard-Smith and Emily Harris and lawyers Mathew Thompson, Chelsea Tsang and Victoria Pistevos.

Commenting on our role, Lina said:

“We are proud to continue supporting Sydney Metro on packages that will transform how people live, work and travel across Sydney. From complex station delivery to a landmark CBD precinct, our focus has been on robust outcomes that reflect the long-term nature of the Sydney Metro West project and the precincts it will create, and in facilitating efficient negotiations to help the Government maintain momentum on this once‑in‑a‑generation project.”
