Clayton Utz has promoted Rebecca Hanrahan to the partnership, effective 1 July 2025.

Ms Hanrahan specialises in restructuring and insolvency litigation and has a significant track record in the space since joining Clayton Utz as a graduate in 2011.

Ms Hanrahan's leading insolvency work has seen her preserve and unlock value for creditors in multiple sectors and led to successful turnarounds in and outside of the formal appointment regime. She has extensive experience, from matters before the High Court and select Parliamentary committees, to complex cross-border projects in the Asia Pacific and around the world.

Primarily acting for external controllers appointed to restructure financially distressed companies, Rebecca also acts for ad hoc committees of senior lenders or sponsors in financial restructuring situations.

Clayton Utz Chief Executive Partner Emma Covacevich said Rebecca's promotion would bolster the firm's growing R&I team.

'We are delighted to welcome Rebecca to our partnership, especially as Australian businesses face increasing pressure and rising insolvencies year on year,' Ms Covacevich said.

Rebecca's promotion deepens the firm's leadership in turnaround engagements, especially across the energy and resources sector.

'This appointment is a testament to Rebecca's exceptional legal expertise and extensive industry knowledge.'

Ms Hanrahan said she was excited to join the firm's partnership.

'I expect to see some demand for my skillset in the coming months, especially as the Western Australian resources sector continues to experience cost pressures and commodity-specific volatility.'

'I am lucky to work alongside such a dedicated team of lawyers at Clayton Utz, including Cameron Belyea, and I thank him for his support and the support of our market-leading teams around Australia.'
