Media release: Clayton Utz advises Teladoc Health on acquisition of leading Australian virtual care clinic

Law firm Clayton Utz has advised Teladoc Health International on its acquisition of Telecare, a leading Australian provider of specialist virtual healthcare services.
The acquisition further strengthens Teladoc Health’s position as a global virtual healthcare leader, and reflects the growing importance of digital health in cross-border M&A activity.
Teladoc Health supports more than 100 million people globally through powering virtual care in healthcare systems in the UK, Germany and Canada, and its acquisition of Telecare marks a strategic step in Teladoc Health’s efforts to expand its global operations.
With a network of more than 300 virtual specialists across 30 medical fields, Telecare is a leading provider of virtual healthcare in Australia, operating a top-tier digital clinic and delivering software solutions tailored for the healthcare industry.
The cross-practice Clayton Utz team was led by partner Rory Moriarty, senior associates Kimberley Bruce and Chamali Samarasinghe, and lawyers Alana Dunn and James Artemi.
Partner Peter Feros and senior associate Alex Melara provided tax advice, while partner Cynthia Elachi and senior associate Brittany Keller provided workplace relations advice.
Commenting on the transaction, Mr Moriarty said the acquisition represented a clear increase in interest from global healthcare providers looking to invest in Australian digital health assets.
'Australia’s combination of clinical excellence, digital infrastructure, and regulatory stability makes it an attractive market for strategic acquisitions,' Mr Moriarty said.
'We expect to see more activity in the virtual care and health tech sectors as global providers seek access to proven platforms and talent, and Australian companies with scalable, patient-focused models such as Telecare are well-positioned to attract international investment.'
