Our Clayton Utz team was proud to see the Victorian Government's landmark UD $11.1 billion North East Link Project (NELP) named Infrastructure and Projects Deal of the Year at the Australasian Law Awards 2022, the winners of which were announced last Thursday evening at the Hilton, Sydney.
Led by Major Projects partner Steve Murray, our team worked alongside a first-class team from the Victorian Government's Major Transport Infrastructure Authority on every stage of the development of this vital project, which represents the largest investment in a road project in Victoria's history and delivers the much needed "missing link" in Victoria's transport network.
Banking and Finance partner Dan Fitts (one of the core team members) was at the event to accept our award recognising our role as legal advisers to NELP. Dan was also on hand to present the Clayton Utz Australian In-House Team of the Year award to the NSW Treasury Office of General Counsel.
This is the latest recognition for the project, which was also awarded Asia Pacific Transport Deal of the Year at the Project Finance International (PFI) Awards 2021.
Held annually, the Australasian Law Awards celebrate the achievements of law firms, in-house legal teams and dealmakers across Australia and New Zealand.
We were also named Excellence Awardee in the categories of Law Firm of the Year, Law Firm Leader of the Year (>200 employees) – our CEP, Bruce Cooper, Excellence in Employee Health and Wellbeing, and Excellence in Technology and Innovation.
