Clayton Utz projects receive high praise at the 2017 National Infrastructure Awards

Sydney, 19 May 2017: Clayton Utz has advised on five of just seven projects that recently received national accolades at the prestigious 2017 National Infrastructure Awards. Hosted by Infrastructure Partnerships Australia (IPA), the Awards acknowledge and celebrate innovation and excellence in the delivery of major projects in Australia.

The award winning projects Clayton Utz advised on are:

Project of the Year

International Convention Centre (ICC) Sydney - Adviser to Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority and Infrastructure NSW on the $1.5 billion revitalisation of the convention, exhibition and entertainment facilities in Sydney's Darling Harbour, as part of the $3.4 billion revitalisation of the Darling Harbour precinct; Lead partners: Stuart Cosgriff and Gary Best

Contractor Excellence Award

Burke North McKinnon Centre Level Crossing Removal Project - Advisor to the Victorian Government on the $524 million project for the first package of railway crossing removals, part of the Level Crossing Removal Program; Lead partner: Nicholas Tsirogiannis

Financial Excellence Award

Ausgrid - Adviser to the financiers to the consortium comprising IFM Investors and AustralianSuper on their $16.2 billion successful bid for the partial lease of electricity and energy services distributor Ausgrid; Lead partner: Dan Fitts

Government Partnership Excellence Award

Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre - Adviser to the Plenary Health consortium on the $1 billion development of the purpose built centre for excellence in cancer research, treatment, education and care; Lead partner: Marcus Davenport

Smart Infrastructure Project

Webb Dock East International Container Terminal - Adviser to the Victoria International Container Terminal on the construction aspects of the Port of Melbourne's $550 million fully automated international container terminal from gate to quay side; Lead partner: Steve Murray

Clayton Utz also advised on the $650 million Bendigo Hospital Project and the $2 billion High Capacity Metro Trains project which were shortlisted for Project of the Year and the Government Partnership Excellence awards respectively.

Major Projects and Construction national practice group leader Sergio Capelli said the firm was proud of its contributions on the successful projects. Sergio also congratulated An Nguyen from the Victorian Department of Treasury and Finance on her Women's Achievement in Infrastructure accolade. "Our teams have had the pleasure of working with An for many years, most recently on the Western Distributor and the CityLink Tullamarine Widening projects. We are delighted her contributions to these significant infrastructure projects and other major ventures in Victoria were recognised."
