Department of Defence:*

  • Acted on some of the department’s most significant information and communications technology (ICT) projects, for Defence Digital Group and Joint Capabilities Group, including:
    • multi-phase programs to deliver modern and secure ICT systems;
    • key projects forming part of the department’s digital sourcing strategy; and
    • projects for the delivery of ICT platforms, system upgrades, telecommunications services, cloud services, data centre services, support services, consultancy services and training services.
  • Acted on significant procurement processes, including:
    • assisting with the development of procurement strategy;
    • review of request documentation, including technical schedules;
    • developing draft contracts for release with request documentation;
    • providing an assessment of legal risk during evaluations;
    • supporting collaborative processes from a legal perspective; and
    • leading legal negotiations.
  • Advised on performance issues, including:
    • advice on the department’s rights and strategies for management of issues; and
    • renegotiation of significant contracts, including to incorporate enhanced performance management, governance and reporting frameworks.
  • Advised on software arrangements including:
    • significant enterprise software licence, support and consultancy agreements; and
    • end user licence agreements, including in the context of large-scale projects.
  • Advised on other ICT-related matters including:
    • development of templates for use in Defence Digital Group;
    • contract interpretation issues; and
    • intellectual property rights issues.

  • Part of the team that acted on:
    • the outsourcing of a department’s ICT services including ICT management services, network services, and data centre and cloud services, which involved three separate procurement processes conducted in quick succession; and
    • the outsourcing of a department’s telecommunication services including voice services, mobile services, and WAN and data carriage services.
