A special counsel in the Sydney corporate team with over 10 years' experience (including 3 and a half years with a magic circle firm in London), Steven regularly assists both Australian and offshore clients to navigate key strategic transactions across a broad range of sectors. Clients also appreciate his pragmatic and easy to follow guidance on various corporate governance issues and general commercial matters affecting their day-to-day business.

Notable Work

GTCR: Advised GTCR on its acquisition of the Australian based Standard Media Index, which runs a data analytics and reporting business in respect of advertising spend.
Westpac / Project Spectre: Advised Westpac Banking Corporation on the sale of its motor vehicle dealer finance and novated leasing business to Angle Finance (a portfolio company of Cerberus).
Knauf / Project Bell: Advised the German headquartered global building materials manufacturer Knauf in relation to: (i) their US $1.015b buy out of Boral’s 50% share in the former USG Boral joint venture (which operates throughout Asia Pac & the Middle East; (ii) the disposal of their Australian plasterboard & ceilings businesses; and (iii) an internal restructure of the Australian USGB business following the buyout from Boral.
Citic Capital / FountainVest Partners: Advised Hong Kong based private equity firms Citic Capital and FountainVest Partners on the proposed disposal of the Australian arm of the global pallet pooling solutions business operated by the Loscam group.
One Rock Capital: Advised One Rock Capital on its acquisition of a chemicals business from BASF and separately on proposed acquisitions in the hospitality distribution and petroleum industries.
Blackstone: Advised Blackstone on the Australian aspects of the sale of the Schenck Process Group's mining business to Swedish engineering group Sandvik for ~€300 million.
Qustodio: Assisted Barcelona based cyber safety company, Qustodio on its acquisition by ASX listed Family Zone.
FocusVision: Advised insights software company FocusVision on the Australian aspects of its merger of equals with the market research and customer experience firm Confirmit.
Songtradr / Song Zu acquisition: Advised the US based Songtradr, Inc. on their successful acquisition of the Song Zu music and sound design business based in Australia and Singapore.
Live Nation / Project Exit: Advised the US multinational entertainment group Live Nation on the acquisition by Ticketmaster of the Moshtix business in Australia.
