Sharon's work in the advertising and marketing area includes advising on marketing and media contracts (including creative, media and digital agency agreements), trade promotions (including social media competitions) and other advertising and marketing activities. Sharon also has extensive experience acting for sponsors in relation to sponsorship agreements with sporting organisations and personal endorsement arrangements.
Toyota Australia: Sharon advises on a range of Toyota and Lexus marketing activities, including advising on Toyota's significant sponsorships with the Australian Football League and Cricket Australia and football clubs. Sharon has also advised on Toyota's sponsorships with various football clubs and the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
adidas Australia: Sharon has advised in relation to numerous sponsorship agreements, promotional agreements and marketing activities. This has included advice on adidas Australia's 2010 World Cup promotion, sponsorships of the 2006 Commonwealth Games, the Australian Olympic Committee, Cricket Australia and football clubs, and advising on various competitions and promotional activities.
Department of Health and Ageing: Sharon acted for the Federal Government's Football World Cup Bid Task Force for Australia's (Soccer) World Cup Bid. This work involved advising the Task Force in relation to an agreement with the Australian Football League, the National Rugby League and Cricket Australia relating to the use of the codes' stadia during the period of time that Australia would host the World Cup, if Australia's bid was successful.
Origin Energy: Sharon advised Origin Energy on a variety of IP privacy and marketing related legal matters, including drafting AFL club relationship agreements and creative/media agency agreements and advising on Origin's M2006 promotions.
Department of Defence: Sharon advised in relation to various Defence Force Recruiting marketing activities, including the procurement of creative agency and digital creative agency services, various sponsorship activities (including with the Australian Football League and the Women's National Basketball League) and other intellectual property, website and privacy matters.
National Australia Bank (NAB): Sharon a advised NAB on its sponsorship arrangements with the Australian Football League and the 2006 Commonwealth Games and related marketing activity.

Customer information data breach: Sharon advised in relation to a data breach involving inadvertent disclosure of customer information, including assisting with a notification to the Australian Information Commissioner.
Data sharing arrangements: Sharon advised a major Australian franchisor on requirements to implement data sharing arrangements across its franchise network, including amending privacy policies and collection notices to permit data sharing across the network.
Privacy reviews and PIAs: Sharon has assisted clients with privacy reviews and privacy impact assessments, including conducting privacy audits, recommending changes to meet privacy requirements and assisting to implement those changes. Sharon also conducted organisation-wide privacy compliance audits for clients in the retail and energy sectors as part of the 2014 transition to the Australian Privacy Principles, including reviewing data handling activities and conducting interviews with personnel, preparing legal compliance reports and recommendations and assisting with development of policies, notices, procedures and training to implement recommendations.
Facial recognition: Sharon advised an Australian airport on privacy matters, including in relation to the trial of facial recognition technology at the airport.
ACMA Investigation: Sharonadvised a client with an investigation into its telemarketing practices by the Australian Communication and Media Authority (ACMA).
Outsourcing of IT systems Sharon advised on the proposed migration of a broad range of global functions (including IT service desk) to a cloud based service, including providing advice on the privacy reasons for choosing between Australia and another country for the location of the supplier's databases.
Direct marketing and social media: Sharon has advised clients in various sectors including retail, manufacturing, insurance and energy industries on numerous marketing campaigns involving the use of customer information collected through digital platforms including social media.
Privacy policies and compliance: Sharon has developed and advised on privacy policies and collection statements for numerous clients.

National Australia Bank (NAB): Sharon advised NAB on the outsourcing of a range of IT and telecommunications services, including negotiating an outsourcing agreement and providing detailed advice on overall strategy and on various regulatory, intellectual property licensing, risk management and project management issues.
