Rod Halstead is a Director in our Mergers and Acquisitions Group and is consistently rated amongst the top Australian lawyers in this field.

He has more than 30 years' experience advising major corporations in relation to the structuring and execution of contested and negotiated takeovers, acquisitions, mergers and divestments and the foreign investment laws and guidelines which impact on those transactions.

Rod was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) (General Division) in the Australia Day 2023 Honours List.

Rod was appointed as a member of the Australian Takeovers Panel in 2010.

Spotless Group Limited: advised on the acquisition of Spotless by Pacific Equity Partners, valuing Spotless at approximately A$720 million (2011/2012).


AMP Limited:
advised in relation to its over A$14 billion merger with AXA Asia Pacific Holdings Limited and the separation and sale of its Asian businesses to AXA SA - one of the largest completed Australian transactions of 2011(2010/11).


Singapore Exchange:
advised Singapore Exchange Limited on its proposed merger with ASX Ltd by scheme of arrangement, valuing the merged entity at approximately A$16 billion (2010/11).


Constellation Brands, Inc.:
advised on the divestment of its Australian and UK wine business for approximately A$290 million (2010/11).
