Energy and Resources

Macquarie Capital: Katy advised Macquarie on its participation in the Asian Renewable Energy Hub to be developed in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, which will supply renewable power to local mining customers in the Pilbara and produce green hydrogen and green ammonia for the domestic Australian market and export to major international users.

ConocoPhillips: Katy advised ConocoPhillips on the sale of its northern Australian and Timor-Leste business to Santos Limited, with operating interests in Darwin LNG, Bayu-Undan, Barossa and Poseidon, for US$1.265 billion plus a contingent payment of US$200 million subject to FID on Barossa.

Quadrant Energy: Katy advised a consortium of sellers led by Brookfield and Macquarie on the US2.5 billion sale of Quadrant Energy to Santos Limited. This included a detailed due diligence and advice on its entire suite of Western Australia gas supply, transportation and swap contracts.

Australia Pacific LNG: Katy advised Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG) on a wide range of matters in respect of its A$24 billion CSG to LNG project, including the sale of its Denison Trough petroleum interests and its joint venture and coordination arrangements with Denison Gas and its Mahalo joint venture interests to Comet Ridge.

Repsol: Katy advised Repsol on the sale of its Papua New Guinea assets and operations, held by its subsidiary Talisman, to Arran Energy. 

Beach Energy: Katy advised Beach Energy on the structuring and sale of a 40% interest in its iconic Otway petroleum assets in offshore Victoria to OG Energy for $344 million, and on its consequential joint venture and tie-in arrangements. The transaction followed Beach's $1.6 billion acquisition of Lattice Energy from Origin Energy. Katy demonstrated on this matter the ability to provide commercially-focused legal advice to drive our client's projects forward.

Senex: Katy acted for Senex in relation to Origin Energy's sale of its upstream conventional gas business, Lattice Energy, and Toyota's sale of its offshore petroleum interests in the Bass Gas and Otway Basins.

Origin Energy: Katy has advised Origin on a wide range of matters in respect of its upstream petroleum operations, including advice on its gas supply and transportation arrangements, joint venture arrangements and the sale of its Surat basin interests to Armour Energy and the consequential pipeline coordination arrangements.

NSW Energy Privatisation: Katy advised on the acquisition of Country Energy, Integral Energy and Eraring Gentrader rights as part of the NSW energy privatisation.

Peabody Energy: Katy advised on all aspects of its Australian operations, including its joint ventures, finance arrangements, rail and port take or pay arrangements and supply arrangements as part of its global restructuring.

Adani Abbot Point: Katy advised in relation to all of its commercial port arrangements, including price reviews and Port User Agreements.
