Alex gives corporate tax assistance to Australian and multinational organisations (including sovereign wealth funds, foreign pension funds and private equity funds.
His tax advice across a number of industries – specifically in infrastructure, property, energy and natural resources and corporate M&A – has seen him working with bidders, vendors and State sides. Complementing this is his deep understanding of Government priorities, incentives and objectives, helping his clients navigate interactions with those governments' authorities and bodies, throughout the whole transaction life cycle. This combination allows Alex to identify and assess risks to assist his clients for a positive outcome for their transactions.
Alex regularly advises clients to achieve a tax efficient outcome through the consideration of the following tax issues:
- Thin capitalisation;
- Interest withholding tax (including section 128F interest withholding exemptions);
- Managed investment trust eligibility;
- Transfer pricing;
- Tax consolidation;
- Debt push down; and
- Assessability of income and deductibility of expenditure.

Port of Melbourne: Advised the successful consortium in relation to the privatisation of the port of Melbourne.
Gaw Capital: Advised Gaw Capital on a number of real estate acquisitions, including student accommodation, office building, aged care and commercial residential.
Plenary Group: Advised Plenary Group in respect of many public/private partnerships, ensuring the needs of different financial investors could be accommodated within a bid structure consistent with State objectives.
Palisade Infrastructure: Advised Palisade on a number of successful renewables acquisitions which involved tax due diligence, tax structuring and review of financial models.

Keppel Corporation: Advised Keppel Infrastructure Trust on its A$777 million acquisition of Ixom chemical distributors.
