The future of social impact investing in Queensland: have your say

Queensland's newly established Office of Social Impact is calling on a range of stakeholders, including investors, philanthropists, the private sector, social enterprises, for-purpose organisations, faith groups, and community members to help drive the development of Queensland’s Roadmap for Social Enterprise and Impact Investment. This is a unique opportunity for those committed to delivering purpose beyond profit and driving community impact and lasting and sustainable social change for marginalised Queenslanders.
The Office is seeking feedback to further strengthen the social impact sector, with submissions closing on 26 June 2025. Feedback can be provided via a Q&A form on the Queensland Treasury website.
Strengthening the sector
Queensland is home to approximately 2,000 social enterprises, forming a vibrant and diverse sector dedicated to achieving meaningful outcomes. From grassroots not-for-profits to innovative startups addressing complex social challenges, these organisations play a vital role in supporting local communities and delivering real change.
Recognising the sector’s importance, the Queensland Government has launched the State’s first-ever Office of Social Impact, housed within Queensland Treasury. This Office of Social Impact is leading the development of a co-designed roadmap for social enterprises and impact investors. Backed by an $80 million Social Entrepreneurs Fund, the initiative aims to grow Queensland’s social impact sector and deliver stronger outcomes in education, health, and employment.
How to get involved
The Office of Social Impact is now inviting feedback from a broad range of voices, including:
Social enterprises;
For-purpose organisations and intermediaries;
Investors and the private sector;
Not-for-profits and community organisations; and
Individuals and other interested stakeholders.
Your feedback will help identify priority areas where government action and collaboration can deliver the greatest impact. This input will directly inform the roadmap, shaping policies, investments, and support for the sector in the years ahead. This process builds on recent consultations led by the Queensland Social Enterprise Council and the Social Impact Advisory Roundtable, ensuring that it reflects the insights of those who work in the sector every day.
Next steps
Submit your feedback by 26 June 2025. Feedback is being gathered through a Q&A form on the QLD Government website.
To provide additional opportunities for engagement, the Office of Social Impact is partnering with the Queensland Social Enterprise Council to host a series of virtual workshops. These sessions, taking place throughout June, will allow stakeholders to share their ideas and insights while helping to shape the future of the sector. You can register here to attend.
