Case Study: Cyber Resilience Program for one of Australia's Largest Mining Companies
The background
One of Australia's largest mining companies faced the complex challenge of managing a large-scale Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) environment, with intricate intersections between the two. The organisation sought to uplift its cyber resilience, particularly around incident response readiness. Despite a capable and well-resourced IT team, uncertainty remained about how prepared teams were to respond to modern threats and whether governance structures around incident coordination were sufficiently clear, tested, and actionable across the organisation.
How we assisted
We developed and delivered a tailored cyber incident response simulation program aligned with the client’s operational context and key cyber threat scenarios. The program tested and trained central incident coordination roles, technical teams, and executives, providing actionable insights into gaps and improvements.
The program addressed business continuity, data integrity, operational disruption, stakeholder management, and regulatory engagement, ensuring readiness for all aspects of a cyber crisis. It clarified roles, enhanced coordination between IT, OT, and executives, and built confidence in responding to threats. The client also received a structured, repeatable method for assessing and improving cyber readiness, while training their response team on incident management processes.
