Casual Paralegal roles

As a paralegal, you can contribute to our legal teams on a casual basis, dedicating typically three or more days per week to your role while pursuing your university studies.

Program details

As a casual paralegal, you'll engage in diverse tasks working across our eDiscovery team and our legal practice areas. You'll also get exposure to working with our data scientists, digital IT experts, cyber specialists, and AI tools. You'll get a strong understanding of how technology and the law intersect and will continue to synergise in the future.

While our paralegals typically work very closely with our Commercial Litigation, Public Sector, and Competition teams, we work across all practice areas in the firm. This will give you a view to a wide variety of matters, including:

  • litigation;

  • regulatory work;

  • Royal Commissions and standing orders;

  • trial support; or

  • internal secondments, directly gaining insights into different practice area operations.

You don't need a wealth of experience to be a paralegal, but you do need the right attitude, treating every task you undertake as a chance to learn and grow. We want to provide as many opportunities as possible and intend to upskill you with the focus on using technology to provide a depth of service and technical expertise which will one day, in turn, create a more efficient Clayton Utz.

How to apply

If you share our values and are interested in joining our team as a casual paralegal, we encourage you to submit your details through the expression of interest form and stay informed of upcoming opportunities.

We want every candidate to have equal access and opportunities, so please contact us if you need any support or reasonable adjustments to complete your application.

Joining as a paralegal after the summer clerkship provided an opportunity to continue networking and learning with Clayton Utz lawyers. You will master your attention to detail, working within strict timelines, and most importantly how to communicate in a highly professional environment.
