Sydney, 3 April 2018: Clayton Utz was named the leading intellectual property (IP) firm in Australia at the inaugural Managing IP Asia-Pacific Awards held in Hong Kong last month.

The firm won the Australia IP (Intellectual Property) Transactions & Advisory Firm of the Year award for its work on a number of challenging and innovative IP matters throughout 2017.

Highlights included advising Toyota on enforcing its IP rights in relation to counterfeit Toyota products; advising on various non-invasive pregnancy testing patents; acting for Novartis Group companies in major patent infringement litigation, and; advising Monash University on global commercialisation projects.

Clayton Utz' Intellectual Property and Technology national practice group leader, John Collins, said the team was very proud to receive this inaugural award.

"This award reflects the depth of our team's expertise and our track record.  We particularly enjoy the challenge of working on the complex and novel matters entrusted to us by our clients, whether Australian-based companies or major global brands. Protecting and enforcing IP rights is now critical for most businesses, and our team consistently outperforms in meeting our clients' expectations."
