Overview

Alex is recognised as a leading Australian regulatory investigations and commercial disputes lawyer. Specialising in complex commercial disputes, Alex has particular expertise in large scale Royal Commissions, regulatory investigations and public inquiries.

Alex has substantial general commercial litigation experience in both Victorian and Federal jurisdictions and acts for a variety of clients, from large corporations, to privately held family businesses and trusts. Alex also regularly advises Commonwealth and State Government Departments and Agencies.

With particular expertise in royal commissions and public inquiries, Alexandra has over 20 years' experience acting in commercial disputes and regulatory investigations. She is regularly briefed by government and corporate clients in complex, multi-party disputes, investigations and Royal Commissions.

Alex is also listed as a leading commercial litigation and dispute resolution lawyer in Doyle's Guide and listed in Best Lawyers for Litigation and Government practice.

Alongside her legal practice, Alex is an executive director of the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, and a non-executive director of the Mercy Health Foundation.

  • The Cole Inquiry: Acted in the Royal Commission into certain Australian Companies in relation to UN Oil-For-Food-Programme.
  • Commercial Disputes: Alex is an accredited advisor with Family Business Australia and regularly works with family businesses, trusts, high net worth individuals and private clients in a range of disputes including minority shareholder claims, breach of trust and wills and estates claims.
  • Regulatory: Alex has acted on behalf of regulators, and also on behalf of corporations and individuals in responding to regulatory enforcement action.
  • Government Agencies: Alex acted on behalf of a large Commonwealth Agency in a high profile Joint Parliamentary Committee inquiry and related internal investigation.
  • Complex Litigation: Alex acted for a Government Agency in the Victorian Supreme Court to enforce a statutory charge, the case involved over 30 parties including other State and Commonwealth Department and Agencies.
  • Federal Court: Alex acted on behalf of several corporate clients and a director in their personal capacity in a large shareholder dispute alleging misleading and deceptive conduct, fraud and breach of trust.
  • Supreme Court: Alex represented a Partner sought to be expelled from a large established accounting practice.
