Clayton Utz has expanded our Environment & Sustainable Development (ESD) team in Brisbane with the appointment of planning lawyer Wendy Evans as a partner.

Wendy joins our firm from Evans Planning Law, which she founded in 2020. A practising town planner before qualifying as a lawyer, Wendy’s lived experience in the development industry means she is a go-to adviser to developers on all aspects of project delivery – from project conception and development application structuring, through to approval procurement, infrastructure agreement negotiations and Court appeals. Her experience in providing specialist statutory planning advice to governments at all levels will also further strengthen Clayton Utz’s market-leading Public Sector practice in Queensland.

Clayton Utz ESD National Practice Group Leader, Claire Smith, said Wendy was an excellent fit for our ESD practice as she “has a genuine passion for planning, and her practical experience in working for both government and industry adds an extra, and highly valuable, dimension to her work as a legal adviser”.

Claire said:

Our Brisbane ESD team includes one of Australia’s top environment and planning partners in Karen Trainor. Wendy’s appointment will give our clients access to an even greater capability across the full range of ESD-related legal services.
