Construction and Major Projects

Transport major project secondments: Kane has previously completed two extended secondments with John Holland on the EastLink and Regional Fast Rail projects. Kane's role included:

  • advising on all aspects of the projects, including the operation and administration of the project documents; and
  • attending operational and legal/commercial meetings with stakeholders.

Battery storage facilities: Kane acted as the key lawyer advising an American manufacturer of battery storage technology on the drafting and negotiation of the EPC contract and subcontracts for a project to construct a large-scale battery storage facility at a wind farm in Hornsdale, South Australia.

Demolition and civil contracting:  Kane advised one of Australia’s largest demolition and civil contractors on a quasi in-house basis in respect of all its contracting – including negotiating and drafting contract documents as well as contract administration and disputes. His project experience included power station and mine decommissioning, road, rail and complex urban infrastructure works.

Water treatment facilities: Kane acted for the head contractor on all upstream and downstream contracting for the design and construction, and operations and maintenance phases of the Altona Recycled Water Treatment Plant Project and the West Werribee Salt Reduction Plant Project.

Bulk materials handling: Kane acted for a German manufacturer and installer of coal stacking and reclaiming equipment in connection with the operation and administration of the contracts for its Australian projects.
