Trevor Thomas is a special counsel in the Major Projects Group with Clayton Utz Melbourne. He also teaches construction law at The University of Melbourne.

Possessing legal, technical and project management skills and experience, Trevor is able to provide timely and commercially relevant advice on various aspects of tendering, procurement, contract negotiation, risk allocation, contract administration and construction disputes.

Waterloo Wind Farm Project: Trevor was the lead lawyer advising Roaring 40s in the drafting and negotiation of the contract documentation for this wind farm project in South Australia. This has involved extensive negotiations with turbine suppliers from Europe and local civil and electrical contractors.

Hydro Tasmania:
Trevor was responsible for drafting the suite of procurement and construction contracts for Hydro Tasmania and providing a number of intensive contract management workshops for the proper selection, use and administration of such contracts. He continues to provide on-going advice to Hydro Tasmania in relation to these documents and other general construction and procurement matters.

Alinta Energy Alliance:
Trevor is currently acting for Alinta Energy on a project to undertake maintenance works at a major coal fired power station in South Australia. The works are being carried out by way of a project alliance.

Melbourne Accommodation Project and Brisbane Accommodation Project:
Trevor advised the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) on the construction of a major new facility in Melbourne by way of a Managing Contractor Contract and the appointment of a contract administrator for the redevelopment of the ABC's facilities in Brisbane pursuant to a custom relationship style project management agreement.

TRUenergy Maryvale Redevelopment:
Trevor is the lead lawyer assisting TRUenergy with a redevelopment project at the Yallourn Open Cut Coal Mine. The project involves the construction, reconfiguration and reallocation of various bulk haulage conveyor systems. Trevor has been advising TRUenergy as to the appropriate procurement method, drafting bespoke contract documentation, drafting tender documentation, evaluating tenders, negotiating with tenderers and providing on-going contract administration services.

Department of Defence:
Trevor has acted on a number of matters for the Department of Defence, including consultancy agreements, preparing tender documents and large scale equipment supply contracts.

Melbourne and Olympic Parks Redevelopment:
Trevor advised Major Projects Victoria in the first phase of its project to redevelop the Melbourne and Olympic Parks precinct (including the Tennis Centre for the Australian Open). These works were undertaken pursuant to a Managing Contractor style of relationship contract.

Melbourne Convention Centre:
Trevor was part of the team that advised Multiplex in relation to the construction of the new Melbourne Convention Centre under a public private partnership model. This involved negotiating and drafting various design and construction contracts, facilities maintenance agreements, contract administration manuals and providing on-going advice in relation to various legal issues during the construction phase.
