She offers particular expertise in the competition law aspects of mergers and acquisitions, supply and access agreements, investigation and enforcement actions by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), Australian Consumer Law requirements for advertising and marketing, warranties and guarantees and other consumer protection issues.

She has also developed, implemented and presented competition and consumer related compliance programs.

Stephanie acts for both private and public sector organisations spanning the water, infrastructure and transport, retail, manufacturing, and telecommunications industries. 

Stephanie is known for her clear understanding of the regulators mindset.  Her insight builds from five years' experience working at the Competition Commission of Singapore where she was responsible for all aspects of cartel and anti-competitive conduct investigation and merger assessments.

Competition

Stephanie has extensive experience in advising on all aspects of competition law including:

  • Advising clients on vertical pricing issues
  • Contract review; structuring contractual arrangements and joint venture arrangements and restructuring arrangements to avoid the per se prohibitions of the Competition Act
  • Procurement management including drafting, reviewing and evaluating invitations to tender for large scale procurement projects
  • Preparing and implementing anti-trust compliance programs and delivering compliance training programs for clients in a range of fields.

Stephanie's experience includes:

  • Reviewing B2B and business to consumer contracts and advising on compliance with the ACL.
  • Negotiating administrative outcomes and section 87B Undertakings in connection with ACCC consumer law investigations.
  • Reviewing and clearing advertisements and other public facing materials for major Australian companies.

Infrastructure Access and Regulation

Stephanie's experience includes: 

  • No Coverage Application: acting for APLNG in successfully obtaining a "no coverage" determination in connection with the Queensland pipeline running from the Sturt Basin to Curtis Island.
  • Access undertakings: advising rail clients on various rail access undertakings.
  • Reserve Bank of Australia: successfully acting for the RBA in connection with various legal challenges to the RBA's statutory reforms to the credit card and EFTPOS systems in Australia which involved complex analysis of the economics and regulation payment systems and network economics.

Stephanie's experience includes:

  • International cartel matters: acting in various international cartel matters including air freight and car parts cartel investigation including liaison with internal law firms and in some matters successful use of the ACCC's "first in" immunity policy.
  • Investigation matters: representing clients in investigation matters, including responding to section 155 requests for information; representing clients during section 155 examinations before the ACCC.

Stephanie's experience includes:

  • Sale of Network Ten's shares in TXA: obtaining merger clearance for the acquisition of Network Ten's shares in TXA by the remaining shareholders.
  • Pacific Magazines: obtaining merger clearance for the acquisition of Time Magazines' titles.
  • Woolworths Limited: acting for Woolworths in obtaining merger clearance for various supermarket and liquor store acquisitions.
  • Privatisation of Freight Rail Corporation: acting for Freight Rail Corporation in the privatisation and sale to Pacific National.
