Rob has nearly 30 years' experience in dispute resolution both as a litigation partner and as a client in his role as Chief Executive Partner (CEP) of Clayton Utz. He has recently stepped down from the CEP role having served from 2014-2020 and is now working closely with the Clayton Utz Forensic and Technology Services (FTS) group, bringing with him a legal prowess that strengthens FTS' unique offering. 

Rob has significant experience and history with Clayton Utz, having joined the firm in Sydney in 1991 and become a partner in 1998. Rob carved out a successful career in Litigation and Dispute Resolution, and served as Partner in Charge of the Canberra office from 2000 to 2004.

Rob's commitment to the firm's vision to be the leading Australian law firm embracing diversity and inclusion saw him chairing our Diversity Council and promoting diversity and inclusion outside the firm through various roles, including being a Federal Government BoardLinks Champion and a Pay Equity Ambassador for the Workplace Gender Equality Agency.

Rob was a member of the Business Council of Australia's Economic Policy & Competitiveness and Regulatory & Compliance Committees from 2014 to 2020.

Rob has also been recognised by the peer review guide "Best Lawyers" as one of Australia's best lawyers in Litigation, ADR and Public Law for the last decade.

  • Anglo Coal: Rob acted for Anglo Coal in relation to a property and contractual dispute which was resolved before litigation through the utilisation of a staged mediation process.
  • Centennial Coal: Rob acted for Centennial in multiple mine subsidence proceedings in the NSW District Court.
  • ING Australia and ING Life: Robeacted for ING in proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia involving allegations under Parts IVA and V of the Trade Practices Act 1974.

    Kovko Coronial Inquiry: Acting for one of the soldiers who was in the barracks at the time of Private Jacob Kovko's death in Baghdad, Iraq in the coronial proceedings before the NSW State Coroner and jury.
