North West Rail Project (Transport for NSW): John is the lead partner advising Transport for NSW on one of the largest infrastructure projects in Australia in the next decade. Valued at $8.5 billion, the North West Rail Link will deliver eight new stations and regular rail services over a 23 kilometre addition to the CityRail network, from Epping to beyond Rouse Hill in North West Sydney. As well as a number of principal funded tunnelling and other civil construction contracts, the project involves a large PPP concession involving long-term operations and maintenance of the rail line. The North West Rail Link project will be the first of a series of projects introducing Rapid Transit capability to the Sydney rail network.

NSW Health: 
John advised NSW Health on the proposed redevelopment of the Royal North Shore campus in Sydney, which had a project cost exceeding $1 billion. It involved the development of a new acute hospital, a community services facility, a mental hospital, car parking and retail facilities. It was financed by the private sector which will provide maintenance and other support services on a long-term basis.

Sydney Water: John advised on a groundbreaking recycling project in metropolitan Sydney. A private sector operator will extract and process effluent from Sydney Water's sewer system and produce recycled water suitable for use by a number of industrial companies in Western Sydney.

Roads and Traffic Authority: 
In relation to the RTA's last generation of tollroads in Sydney (the M7, Cross City Tunnel and Lane Cove Tunnel projects) John was responsible for advising on the proposed risk allocation, the drafting of the Project Deed and Request for Proposals and the contractual relationship with the lenders to the project.

New South Wales and National Coal Infrastructure Group Ltd:
 John acted for the State on the arrangements between the State and National Coal Infrastructure Group Ltd. for land on Kooragang Island on which new coal loader infrastructure in the Port of Newcastle was to be developed.

John acted for the Commonwealth, New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory Governments in relation to the proposed Very High Speed Train between Sydney and Canberra. We advised the three Governments on all aspects of the project during the tender process up to the conclusion of a detailed proving-up phase; the Governments then decided not to proceed with the project.

Royal Adelaide Hospital Project: 
John is part of the team advising the Crown Solicitor's Office of South Australia as joint legal advisers on the Royal Adelaide Hospital Project, which involves the PPP delivery of a new $1.7 billion hospital which will be the centrepiece of the SA Health system.

Olympic Co-ordination Authority: John acted for Olympic Co-ordination Authority, an agent of the New South Wales Government, on the tender for the financing, construction and long-term operation and maintenance of Homebush Bay's Olympic Stadium, and the Olympic Multi-Use Arena which has a seating capacity for approximately 20,000 people.
