Media Release: Clayton Utz partner Jennifer Wyborn wins ACT Woman Lawyer of the Year award

Jennifer joined our firm in 2014, and leads our Workplace Relations, Employment and Safety practice in Canberra. One of five finalists for the Award, Jennifer was recognised for her excellence as a lawyer, as well as her contribution to the ACT legal community through her work in advancing women’s legal rights, her mentorship, and particularly, her pro bono work.
Jennifer said she was honoured to be recognised with the Award. “There are so many lawyers doing incredibly important work that is making a difference to people’s lives, and I want to continue to make a contribution and have an impact. It’s a privilege to be a part of the brilliant Canberra legal community.”
In FY22, Jennifer provided over 99 hours of pro bono legal services - including to the Women's Legal Centre ACT & Region, which was named Firm / Organisation of the Year, the first time a community legal centre has won this Award.
In support of Jen's nomination, the principal solicitor at Women's Legal Centre ACT, Claudia Maclean, noted the "exceptional contribution" Jen had made to the ACT community through her pro bono work for the Centre: "This work has significantly increased the services the centre is able to provide for socially or economically disadvantaged people in the ACT and advanced access to justice for women in Canberra."
We're also very proud of Canberra Public Sector lawyer Lauren Hargrave and WRES lawyer Sarah Pain on being named finalists for the Woman Lawyer of the Year - Early Career award.
The ACT Women Lawyers Awards
The ACT Women Lawyers Awards were presented at a gala dinner at the National Museum of Australia on Friday 21 October, which attracted well over 300 attendees. They are an initiative of Women Lawyers Association of the ACT, a not-for-profit organisation providing networking for and promotion of the interests of women lawyers in the ACT.
