Clayton Utz is proud to formally launch our Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI) Platinum Project which aims to support our LGBTIQ employees to feel more included in our workplace, especially when working remotely.
With a number of research studies showing that mental distress is often experienced at disproportionate rates among the LGBTIQ community, our Platinum Project - an online toolkit of resources and tools - has a particular focus on mental health and wellbeing.
The toolkit offers support across five key identified challenges: mental health, coming out at work, career progression, inclusive leadership and effective allyship, and gender diversity. At the heart of the toolkit are personal stories from our own people who identify as LGBTIQ, as well as tip sheets, advice from leading organisations, and carefully curated links to external sites and support.
Clayton Utz Chief Executive Partner Bruce Cooper said he was pleased to see the Platinum Project realised.
I acknowledge and thank the many people who contributed their time, research and stories to help us develop the toolkit, which we hope our LGBTIQ community - and also our wider workforce - will find a valuable source of support in addition to our existing programs and initiatives. It reflects the progress we're making in our efforts to promote LGBTIQ inclusion, which will continue to be a key focus of our Diversity and Inclusion initiatives.
AWEI Platinum Qualifier
The Platinum Project is the result of our achieving AWEI Gold Employer status for four consecutive years. Having completed our Platinum Project, we are now an AWEI Platinum Employer - the first law firm to reach this highest level - reflecting our long-term leadership in LGBTIQ inclusion.
The AWEI is the definitive national benchmark on LGBTIQ workplace inclusion. It is a rigorous and evidence-based benchmarking tool that annually assesses workplaces in the progress and impact of their LGBTIQ inclusion initiatives.
