Clayton Utz partners Nikki Robinson and Cameron Gascoyne were among the winners at the 2022 Lawyer Weekly Partner of the Year awards, announced at a gala function in Sydney on 28 July.
Nikki, who took out the Real Estate category, said the award recognised the “enormous contribution” of her team to delivering at an “extraordinary high level” for clients in the face of the many challenges presented by COVID-19.
The past few years have changed the way we work together – both our teams and our clients. Over the past year we have collaborated more closely with our clients, including Sydney Metro, Western Sydney University, Landcom, Blacktown City Council, Vicinity and Stockland, to contribute to great outcomes across a range of projects being delivered.
The winner of the Intellectual Property category, Cameron described 2021 as “one of the most significant years of my career”. His work highlights included advising the Commonwealth of Australia on acquiring the copyright in the Aboriginal flag, and Brisbane City Council on the intellectual property arrangements for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Cameron said:
I’m proud that my team and I have had the opportunity to be involved in work which will shape our national identity and economy.
Nikki and Cameron were among seven finalists from our firm, including Owen Bourke (Innovator of the Year), Lina Fischer (Construction & Infrastructure), Timothy Sackar (Insolvency), Dr Ashley Tsacalos (Government), and Kirsten Webb (Competition, Trade and Regulation).
