Darling Harbour Live precinct project wins Asia-Pacific PPP of 2013 award

Sydney, 9 January 2014: Sydney's Darling Harbour Live (DHL) precinct project, on which Clayton Utz is the primary legal adviser, has been named Asia-Pacific PPP Deal of the Year at the 2013 Project Finance International (PFI) Awards.

The circa $1 billion DHL precinct project will provide Sydney with world-class facilities for a diverse range of convention, exhibition and entertainment events. Uniquely, the project involves the interface of a Public Private Partnership structure for each of the convention, exhibition and entertainment components. The project reached financial close on 5 December 2013.

A multidisciplinary Clayton Utz team, led by Construction and Major Projects partner Stuart Cosgriff and Real Estate partner Gary Best, has advised on the project from its inception to the formal awarding in December 2012 of the project contract to the Darling Harbour Live consortium. Clayton Utz was appointed in August 2011 as primary legal advisers to Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority, and then to Infrastructure NSW, on the project.

Winners of 2013 PFI Awards will be honoured at the PFI Annual Awards Dinner in London on 5 February.
