Clayton Utz partner Karen Evans-Cullen appointed to Australian Government Takeovers Panel

Sydney, 16 April: Clayton Utz corporate partner and experienced mergers and acquisitions (M&A) practitioner Karen Evans-Cullen has been appointed to The Takeovers Panel.

Karen is one of five new appointments to the Panel, announced today by the Acting Assistant Federal Treasurer. The Panel is a peer review body and the primary forum for resolving disputes about a takeover bid until the bid period has ended. There are 36 members of the Panel appointed from the active members of Australia's takeovers and business communities.

Karen's appointment reflects her reputation as one of Australia's leading M&A practitioners. She has many years' experience acting for clients on a wide range of M&A transactions, including Spotless Group Limited's A$720 million acquisition by Pacific Equity Partners, Singapore Exchange Limited's proposed A$16 billion merger with ASX Ltd, and the formation of a new ASX-listed company, Seven Group Holdings.

In 2013, Karen was a finalist at the Euromoney LMG Australasia Women in Business Law Awards in the category of Mergers and Acquisitions / Private Equity. She is also recognised as one of Australia's best M&A lawyers in the Best Lawyers Australia survey, as voted by peers.

Karen is the co-author of THE REAL DEAL, a formative Clayton Utz publication on public M&A activity and trends shaping the M&A market.
