Clayton Utz clients come up trumps at 2013 Project Finance International awards

Sydney, 31January 2013: Clayton Utz congratulates valued clients Chubu Electric Power Co., Australia Pacific LNG and Exemplar Health on their success at the 10th annual Project Finance International (PFI) awards, announced last night at a function in London. In the Asia-Pacific Deal of the Year category, Australian projects collected 4 of the 7 available deal awards:

  • Ichthys LNG - Asia-Pacific Deal of the Year;
  • APLNG - Asia-Pacific Oil & Gas Deal of the Year;
  • Sydney Desalination Plant - Asia-Pacific Infrastructure Deal of the Year; and
  • Sunshine Coast University Hospital - Asia-Pacific PPP Deal of the Year.

Clayton Utz is one of the few Australian law firms to have an involvement in each of the four winning Australian deals: a testament to the depth and breadth of its project and project finance practice and its ability to bring projects lawyers together from around its national network. Clayton Utz represented:

  • APLNG on all aspects of the Asia-Pacific Oil & Gas Deal of the Year;
  • Exemplar Health on all aspects of the Asia-Pacific PPP Deal of the Year;
  • Chubu Electric Power Co, a sponsor on the Asia-Pacific Deal of the Year; and
  • Infigen on its involvement with the Asia-Pacific Infrastructure Deal of the Year.

Clayton Utz's Head of Project Finance, Bruce Cooper said the firm was proud to be involved with these award-winning deals. "These awards are real recognition for our clients and their involvement in projects of true international standing. We're happy to have been part of their ability to close globally significant deals."

The PFI Awards recognise corporate and individual success in the global project finance industry.
