Melbourne, 14 June 2011: In a further boost to the firm's national Corporate practice and to its Melbourne office, Clayton Utz has recruited Michael Linehan as a partner.
Michael is well-known to Clayton Utz, having started his legal career in the firm's Melbourne office as a graduate in 1995. Michael progressed to senior associate level before leaving the firm in 2004.
For the past seven years, Michael has been a partner at another firm in Melbourne. Over this time, Michael has developed a strong corporate client base, having represented a diverse range of organisations including Illinois Tool Works Inc., Owens-Illinois Inc. (formerly ACI Packaging), Ridley Corporation Limited, RACV, and Epworth Healthcare. Michael has also acted as lead adviser on some significant transactions during that time, including the sale of the Godfreys and Adairs national retail businesses and the acquisition of the Freemasons Hospital and the Cedar Court Rehabilitation Hospital.
Michael will be joined at Clayton Utz by lawyers Quentin Reidy and Angela Manolakos.
The national head of Corporate at Clayton Utz, Graham Taylor, said Michael's appointment would further strengthen the firm's ability to deliver first-class legal services to its corporate clients.
"Michael has a proven track record in growing long-term client relationships and working collaboratively with client teams. He is a great cultural fit with our Melbourne Corporate team," said Graham.
Melbourne managing partner Glen Bartlett said the addition of Michael and his team would enhance the ability of Clayton Utz's Melbourne Corporate practice to work on the major national transactions on which the firm is regularly engaged.
"Bringing Michael and his team on board is also consistent with our plans to significantly expand the capability of our Melbourne office, which was reflected in the recent appointment of Dan Trindade and Stuart Pill together with their team to our Workplace Relations & Safety practice," said Glen.
Commenting on his appointment, Michael Linehan said: "My team and I are very much looking forward to the move. Our clients will benefit significantly from the depth and breadth of resources and expertise at Clayton Utz."
Michael added: "It is particularly exciting to be re-joining the firm at this important time of expansion of the Melbourne office. I look forward to making a significant and long-lasting contribution to the Melbourne Corporate group."
