Clayton Utz forging ahead in a new era of competition

Sydney, 12 February 2010: Clayton Utz Chief Executive Partner David Fagan has reaffirmed the firm's commitment to being Australia's most client focused and commercial law firm following the announcement that Clayton Utz is a finalist in the Best Law Firm category at the 2010 BRW Client Choice Awards to be announced in March.

Mr Fagan said it was the support of clients as well as the outstanding legal talent at Clayton Utz that continued to make Clayton Utz a leader in legal services in Australia.

"We have been overwhelmed by the support for and loyalty to the firm our clients have shown, particularly following the news earlier this week that Allen & Overy plans to enter the Australian market," he said.

"Clayton Utz is a firm of talented people and we have a fantastic and loyal client base. As a top-tier, full service firm, competitive challenges mean an opportunity for us to reflect on our strengths and re-energise our people to ensure that we continue to provide our clients with the best legal services available. We are getting on with our business."

Mr Fagan said Clayton Utz was excited about its future and the opportunity to build on the strong market position it has established over the last few years.

"The legal services market in Australia is entering a new era of competition. Ultimately it is the clients who will decide what model best supports them in achieving their business objectives."
