St Kilda nude photo social media scandal leads to social media court process

by Jim FitzSimons

It's perhaps unsurprising that the St Kilda nude-photo saga, a scandal that has been playing out on Facebook, should lead to legal proceedings played out in part also on social media.

As the club and players seek to limit the release and dissemination of the material, they've posted notification of court hearings on social media site USTREAM, as that has been used by the teenager at the centre of the story.

Further service of notice of proceedings and orders has been made via Twitter, as well as by the more conventional route of email.

As we noted last month, courts are becoming more and more open to the use of social media when parties, for whatever reason, are hard to reach in person.
