Sydney, 30 April 2010: Clayton Utz Chief Executive Partner David Fagan was pleased to be able to offer his personal congratulations to Clayton Utz Scholarships in Social Impact recipients Rosemary Cottrell and Janina Jancu, who attended a special morning tea in their honour at Clayton Utz' Sydney office this week.
Janina and Rosemary were the inaugural recipients of the $5,000 Scholarships, which will contribute to the costs of the Graduate Certificate in Social Impact at the Centre for Social Impact, UNSW. The Graduate Certificate in Social Impact focuses on building the professional capacity of social managers and entrepreneurs of the future, across the corporate, government and not-for-profit sectors.
The Centre for Social Impact is a partnership between the Business Schools of the University of New South Wales, the University of Melbourne, Swinburne University of Technology and the University of Western Australia. Its mission is to create beneficial social impact in Australia through teaching, research, measurement and the promotion of public debate.
In what was a competitive application process, Janina and Rosemary were very strong candidates with both meeting the eligibility requirements of displaying a passion for the not-for-profit sector and strong leadership potential.
Mr Fagan said the opportunity to meet Janina and Rosemary as this year's Scholarship recipients reaffirmed Clayton Utz' decision to support the Centre for Social Impact.
"I was incredibly impressed by Janina's and Rosemary's passion for delivering social change. The Graduate Certificate in Social Impact will allow them to further their critical analysis skills to assist in driving social impact initiatives. Clayton Utz is proud to support this very worthy cause," said Mr Fagan.
The Centre for Social Impact Director of Social Enterprise and Program Director Cheryl Kernot also attended the function.
