Brisbane 29 April, 2010: Clayton Utz will provide another talented visual artist with an opportunity to move one step closer to achieving their career ambitions through the Clayton Utz: LAUNCH Art Award 2010.
Established in 2008 and formerly known as the LAUNCH: Clayton Utz Travelling Arts Scholarship, the winner of the Clayton Utz: LAUNCH Art Award 2010 will receive $10,000 to help advance their career.
Thirty finalists, including the winner, will also have their work displayed for 12 months at Clayton Utz' Brisbane offices in Riparian Plaza.
Entrants are also eligible for a $1500 highly commended award and a $500 student encouragement award.
As in previous years, the Clayton Utz: LAUNCH Art Award 2010 is open to a Queensland-based visual artist or an artist with a close connection to the state who can demonstrate their commitment to artistic practice.
Clayton Utz Brisbane managing partner Michael Klug said he hoped the award would help yet another talented artist to take their career to the next level.
"Clayton Utz has a long and proud history of supporting the arts. The Clayton Utz: LAUNCH Art Award 2010 is one way we can support and help to make a difference to a Queensland artist early in their career. We are proud to support the initiative," said Michael.
Eligible artworks should be submitted by 17 May, 2010. Visual artists working in a range of disciplines including painting, photography, drawing, new media, installation and wall-based practice, are encouraged to enter.
Last year's winner, Gemma Smith, now regularly exhibits at Sydney's Sarah Cottier Gallery.
