The Queensland Information Technology Contracting (QITC) framework is widely used by Queensland government organisations for purchasing ICT products and services.  This one-day workshop will explore some of the more complex issues that commonly arise in IT contracts. It will include a guided hands-on opportunity to complete a QITC contract, as well as an explanation of the key issues and tips for addressing them in the contract.

Who should attend our QTIC Contracts Workshop

Anyone involved in drafting QITC contracts for government, including procurement officers, IT professionals and legal advisors.  We recommend attending our Drafting QITC Contracts Workshop 1 before attending this workshop, unless you are already familiar with QITC. Legal experience is not required.

What we'll cover

  • Completing a QITC Comprehensive Contract for an ICT system – project "stages"; detailed specifications; completing a PIPP; implementation methodologies; liquidated damages; acceptance testing; escrow; resellers and more
  • How and when to use the systems integration module, including dealing with multiple system release
  • Dealing with scope and price uncertainty in contracts
  • Understanding the relationship between liability limitations, indemnities and insurance
  • Advanced pricing models, including alliance and risk/reward
  • Contracting for business benefits.

At the end of the workshop you’ll know:

  • How to complete a QITC Comprehensive Contract
  • How to address the hard issues when procuring an ICT system
  • Limitations of QITC and how to get around them
  • Using the QITC to protect against a failed ICT project
  • Innovative contract approaches for managing risk and incentivising supplier behaviour.
