With agencies and businesses handling more personal information than ever before, it is important to be aware of your organisation’s obligations in the event of a data breach. Should a data breach occur, how your organisation deals with the breach will be key in managing reputational risk
Under the Notifiable Data Breaches Scheme, organisations are required to notify the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) and affected individuals in relation to data breaches where there are reasonable grounds to believe that an eligible data breach has occurred (that is, a data breach that is likely to result in serious harm).
