Overview

Recommended CPD point allocation: 7 points (excluding WA).

Whether a development or environmental approval application results in a good approvals outcome, or is defensible if subject to challenge, will depend on the quality and content of the application being considered.

This master class will look at ways to prepare and manage the application process, to provide more predictable approvals outcomes, better conditions and legally defensible approvals.

It has been designed for:

  • Applicants for development and environmental approvals
  • Project managers
  • Consultants who are responsible for preparing and managing environmental and planning approvals.

It will help proponents develop the criteria to bullet-proof their applications and strategies for legally sound decisions. We will examine applications that are made at all levels of government – Commonwealth, State and local government – so you can understand how to develop sound approvals strategies, tips for preparing good applications, when and how decisions can be challenged, and what you can do to protect them.
