Recent high profile investigations have put the spotlight on conflicts of interest, probity and corruption in government. Governments around the country have responded with new regimes, which they say will reduce the risk of corruption, and increase transparency, integrity and accountability, particularly in government tender processes.

Understanding the fundamentals of probity is the key to running defensible processes and maintaining high levels of accountability in government.

  • What is probity?
  • What are the fundamental probity principles?
  • What are the roles of the various players (including the role of the Probity Auditor)?
  • What are some of the usual probity protection mechanisms that are utilised?
  • How should a probity plan be developed and what should it include?
  • Examination of other common law legal issues and the potential areas for legal challenge to procurement processes arising from probity type issues.
