Melbourne, 29 August 2018: Clayton Utz senior associate Emma Lampard was named the joint winner of the 2018 Law Council of Australia Tom Yuncken [1] Young Construction Lawyer Award at The Society of Construction Law Australia's (SoCLA) recent annual conference. The Award recognises excellence in the field of construction law and practice.
Emma joined Clayton Utz in 2012 and practises in the Major Projects and Construction team in Melbourne. She acts for a diverse range of public and private sector clients including Land & Housing Corporation of NSW, VicRoads and Major Projects Victoria (now Development Victoria) in both contentious and non-contentious matters.
Emma has built a reputation for the approach she takes to getting to know and understand the client's business and needs, becoming an integrated member of their team, delivering nuanced legal advice and being able to effectively communicate that advice. At an industry level, she was a member of the Building Dispute Practitioners' Society committee for six years, and has served as vice-chair of the SoCLA Conference Organising Committee since 2014. Within her Clayton Utz team, she plays an active role in knowledge management, and in training and mentoring more junior lawyers.
Emma said it was an honour to receive the Award, which she shared with Corrs lawyer and former colleague, Dado Hrustanpasic. "Construction is a dynamic and intellectually stimulating area in which to build a legal practice. I enjoy the challenge of the projects I get to be involved in, the terrific clients I get to work with, and the collegiate environment that comes from being part of a project team. The broader construction law community is working hard to shape the environment we live in, and it's an exciting time to be part of the conversation."

Emma accepted the award at SoCLA's annual conference held in the Hunter Valley from 16-18 August. The conference brought together over 150 SoCLA members of all career stages to network and hear about future trends in construction law.
