Government Specific Program

This intensive one day training workshop will explore frequently encountered difficulties in dealing with the operation of contracts. The focus will be on commercial arrangements that are entered into by government agencies and other public sector bodies.

Workshop agenda

  • The statutory framework – powers of government to enter into contracts
  • Contracting basics – formation of contract and other issues
  • Negotiations – the dividing line; when negotiations become binding contractual commitments
  • Managing contractual breaches – what are the traps?
  • Specific issues such as intellectual property rights, insurance clauses, liquidated damages and limiting liability and other tricky clauses
  • Practical test cases and scenarios.
