| Robert Backstrom: With experience in both Australia and Hong Kong, Robert has specialised in advising project developers and members of the construction and mining industries for nearly 20 years. He advises public sector bodies as well as developers, contractors, subcontractors, consultants and insurers on a wide range of construction related issues and disputes. This varied exposure to the industry allows Robert to anticipate and advise clients on potential risks before they emerge. Robert was promoted to Special Counsel earlier this year. |
| Stephen Fall: Having practised exclusively in construction law for over a decade, Stephen has provided a broad range of advice to many major participants in the construction industry. Stephen's particular areas of expertise are litigation and alternative dispute resolution. He has been involved in many large to medium scale mediations, arbitrations and court proceedings. Stephen also has front-end experience in both traditional and non-traditional project delivery forms. Stephen was promoted to Special Counsel in July. |
| Cate Greene: Cate has extensive private and public sector experience, having acted for various principals, departments, contractors and consultants in all aspects of tender, contract and contract administration phases of construction and infrastructure projects. Cate is a specialist in Commonwealth procurement. She is also experienced in the resolution of construction and engineering related disputes, with a particular interest in security of payment legislation. Cate was promoted to Special Counsel in July. |
| Tim Hemingway: Tim assists corporate and government clients with contractual, commercial and regulatory issues. He specialises in logistics and transport, IT outsourcing and intellectual property. Tim brings firsthand knowledge and understanding of the logistics and transport industry thanks to a lengthy secondment in-house at TNT Logistics' head office in Amsterdam. Tim has been with Clayton Utz for 10 years and has recently been appointed Special Counsel. |
| Denise Kelly: Denise has experience in providing advice to all participants in the construction industry. She has participated in large scale litigation and arbitration in Queensland, Victoria and the Northern Territory. Denise was promoted to Special Counsel in July. |
| Georgia Quick: Georgia has extensive experience in dispute resolution and risk management in the areas of construction, major projects and energy. She has been involved in disputes in numerous jurisdictions, dealing with power plants, FPSOs, offshore platforms, water treatment plants, material handling facilities, educational and commercial developments, land excavation and reclamation, rolling stock and airport facilities. Georgia joined Clayton Utz as Special Counsel earlier this year. |
| Irene Wales: Irene has more than 20 years' experience as a construction lawyer, shared between Hong Kong and Sydney. She has amassed extensive experience in building and infrastructure projects as well as in facilities management. She is an accomplished negotiator in major project deals. Her ten years of arbitration and litigation experience early in her career make her ideally suited to advising clients on risk allocation and contract drafting issues at the time of negotiating contacts. Irene joined Clayton Utz as Special Counsel in July. |
| Gavin Witcombe: Gavin joined our Perth Office as a Special Counsel in early January 2006, with over 20 years experience in construction projects. Gavin practises in all areas of construction law. He is involved in front end engineering and construction work, including major infrastructure, mining and processing projects, and has extensive experience in litigation and all forms of dispute resolution. |
| Bradley Allen: Brad has recently been involved in several large leveraged and syndicated debt transactions acting for borrowers and lenders. Before joining Clayton Utz as a Senior Associate in February 2006, Brad gained considerable experience over several years in the Sydney market in a wide range of project finance, infrastructure and corporate finance transactions. |
| Greta Burkett: Greta has a broad range of experience in debt finance. She has acted on a variety of transactions including syndicated financings, acquisition financings, real estate financings, structured financings and commercial paper programmes. Greta joined Clayton Utz as a Senior Associate in January. She previously worked at Allen & Overy LLP in London. |
| Bill Ilkovski: Bill is an experienced litigator and specialises in building and construction disputes. He has extensive experience in security of payment disputes in particular. Bill joined our Major Projects Group in January 2005 after five years of practice at another Sydney law firm. Bill was promoted to Senior Associate in July. |
| Katharine Lee: Katharine recently joined our Major Projects Team as a Senior Associate. She was previously Corporate Legal Counsel, Construction at Kowlon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC), Hong Kong. Whilst at KCRC, Katharine was part of the 2005 Construction In-house Team of the Year in the ALB Hong Kong Law Awards. She specialises in construction and major projects, with extensive experience in drafting, negotiating and advising on contract and project documentation. |
| Clare Lennox: Clare has acted on a number of major infrastructure projects in Queensland and understands the project risks and legal issues associated with the delivery of such projects. She has acted for project sponsors, contractors and financiers and is aware of the expectations, requirements and approaches of private and public sector participants involved in major infrastructure projects. Clare joined Clayton Utz as a Senior Associate earlier this year. |
| Pru Maloney: Pru's practice focuses on leveraged and corporate finance. She has acted on many of Australia's largest leveraged buy-out transactions. Pru was promoted to Senior Associate in July. |
| Trish Scharer: Trish is a specialist dispute resolution lawyer. Her experience covers the management and resolution of construction, engineering and infrastructure claims and disputes. Trish has acted for government, owners and contractors in relation to the Trade Practices Act, security of payment, delay, defect and variation claims in both arbitrations and litigation. Trish was promoted to Senior Associate in July 2006. |
