Key Points:
Greg Williams is a senior associate in our Life Sciences team. He joined Clayton Utz in 1995 and has been a member of the Life Sciences team since 1999.
Greg came to Clayton Utz having completed a Master's Degree in Biochemistry at the University of Sydney. While at Clayton Utz, Greg has undertaken work for numerous pharmaceutical and medical device clients.
"The best thing about this sort of work is the opportunity to work closely with clients on projects relating to particular products and, in doing so, to develop an understanding of the product and the science which supports it."
Greg's experience and expertise includes assisting clients with product liability claims, real or threatened, with a particular emphasis on class action litigation. He also advises about a range of regulatory issues, including registration and listing, pricing, advertising and labelling. In the regulatory sphere, Greg has assisted clients with a range of dispute resolution procedures, including internal review processes, AAT applications and advertising complaints procedures.
In 1999 Greg undertook a secondment to the Legal Services Branch of the Department of Health and Ageing in Canberra, a move which heightened his interest in the regulatory process.
Jodi Ainsworth is a solicitor practising in product liability and intellectual property law.
After receiving her law degree (with honours), Jodi completed a Master of Biotechnology Studies at Flinders University in South Australia. From this, she gained a strong appreciation of the scientific principles and theoretical knowledge underpinning applied science, in particular, the biotechnology sector.
Jodi has deployed her scientific knowledge in various product liability and regulatory matters for both pharmaceutical and medical device companies. She also has experience in patent infringement matters, including in respect of agricultural biotechnology patents. Jodi's ability to understand and communicate scientific principles gives her an ideal vantage point to analyse complex scientific issues within the relevant legal framework. Jodi’s expertise is also of assistance when speaking with scientific and medical experts.
As part of her Master's degree, Jodi undertook a research project on barriers to the commercialisation of biotechnology research. She, therefore, understands relevant commercial issues as a complement to her legal and scientific ability.
