Profile: Doug Galbraith

Key Points:

Doug has been practising dispute resolution and litigation in Canberra for the last 25 years. He principally acts for Commonwealth Government departments and agencies including the Department of Defence, Australian Federal Police, the Department of Finance and Centrelink. Doug also acts for many private sector clients including insurance companies and financial institutions in a wide variety of contentious matters involving virtually all Federal, State and Territory Courts and Tribunals.

He regularly advises Commonwealth Government agencies and Comcover itself on liability to third parties in the area of general liability, professional indemnity and directors' and officers' liability.

Doug has a good working relationship with the Defence Insurance Office and is fully cognisant of the Commonwealth Legal Services Directions including the Model Litigant Policy.

He is a convener of the ACT branch of the Australian Insurance Law Association and a member of the Tort Law Committee of ACT Law Society.
