Michael Palfrey is a lawyer with extensive experience in the public sector. Before entering private practice, he worked in the legal branches of the Department of Finance and Deregulation, the Department of Health and Ageing and the Therapeutic Goods Administration as well as in the Torts Law Group of the NSW Crown Solicitor’s Office.
Michael regularly advises Commonwealth departments on administrative law and statutory interpretation as well as assisting with the development of legal policy and legislation. Michael also has significant experience in drafting decisions for public sector clients and advising on the operation of regulatory schemes.
He regularly appears before the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, including on behalf of the Department of Health and Ageing, and the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government. Michael also has experience in Federal Court litigation for a range of Commonwealth clients.
