The Clayton Utz guides to good decision-making for Government

Key Points:

The Clayton Utz Government Services Group has produced its own series of eight succinct, easy-to-use guides to aid governmental decision-makers in carrying out their tasks, which should ideally be read in conjunction with the ARC guides.

Our series covers the same core decision-making principles as the ARC guides, and goes on to cover more specific issues, and delve into some areas in more depth, such as:

  • the role and use of government policy in administrative decision-making
  • the legal principles governing who can make a decision in an agency
  • the duty of government agencies to take reasonable care in decision-making; and
  • the legal principles that control the interpretation of legislation.

We also provide administrative law training seminars that can be tailored to the needs of individual agencies. To learn more about these seminars, please contact the Government Services Group on 1800 730 069.
