Robert Cutler is a litigation and dispute resolution Partner in the Canberra office with extensive experience in Government contractual and debt recovery disputes; intellectual property and information technology litigation (including appeals) and in all alternative dispute processes.
Robert has provided advice to and represented public and private sector bodies in many disputes ranging from multimillion dollar contractual and intellectual property claims involving publicly and privately owned assets, to IT contractual disputes to debt recovery matters, to negligent mining claims against former publicly owned entities. Robert is an accredited mediator and, in keeping with the model litigant rules, seeks to introduce ADR processes into disputes as soon as possible and when appropriate.
Before joining Clayton Utz in 1991, Robert worked in the Intellectual Property Litigation Department of global law firm Clifford Chance in its London office. Robert was a partner in the Sydney office of Clayton Utz before moving to Canberra in January 2000. Among Robert's many publication credits is the Australian chapter of Oceania Publications Inc.'s "World Intellectual Property Rights and Remedies - laws with commentary".
Robert is also director of the ACT Rugby Union.
