Profile - Mark van Brakel

Mark is a senior associate in our Perth office, with extensive experience in both public law and commercial litigation. A former Crown prosecutor and civil solicitor of the State Crown, Mark's current litigation practice covers diverse areas of dispute and advisings. Mark also forms part of the firm's environmental practice with an emphasis on the prosecutorial and administrative aspects of the legislation. Mark has appeared as counsel in a range of courts and tribunals, in addition to acting in arbitrations and mediations.

Mark has a thorough understanding of Governmental processes and decision making, based on his time with the State Crown Solicitor in which he advised upon and conducted litigation for the full range of State Governmental agencies. During his time with the firm, Mark has maintained involvement with a large range of public law and Governmental disputes and advisings. Mark has conducted various State and Federal administrative review action, acting for both Governmental and private interests. Mark also regularly conducts the defence of various prosecutions on behalf of private interests.
