Lateral appointments

Heath Lewis
Heath rejoined Clayton Utz as a Partner in March 2007, having previously worked in the firm's Perth office as a solicitor from 1999 - 2004. Between 2004 and 2007, Heath worked at Slaughter and May in London.

Dr Teresa Baker
Dr Teresa Baker is a scientist by training and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree with joint first class honours in organic and physical & inorganic chemistry in 1988. She then conducted postgraduate research in synthetic organic chemistry at the University of Western Australia and Oxford University and was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy in 1993.

Alison Evans
Alison Evans is the new Director, Human Resources at Clayton Utz. Alison joined the firm on 17 September 2007 and replaces Kris Webb who has joined GlaxoSmithKline. Alison joins us after two years at the National Australia Bank Limited as the bank's General Manager, Executive Talent and Leadership Development. Prior to joining the National Australia Bank, Alison held a variety of senior HR roles in professional services including nine years with PricewaterhouseCoopers and four years with Phillips Fox, now DLA Phillips Fox. 

Andrew Plaskett
Andrew Plaskett is the Director, Business Development at Clayton Utz. Since joining the firm five months ago Andrew has been working on the development of a range of new exciting initiatives. Previously, Andrew worked as the National Manager of Business Development at Freehills for seven years. He also worked as a management consultant for seven years. Throughout his career he has been a board member on a number of not for profit organisations as well as helping to support a range of Federal and State Government initiatives assisting the cultural sector across Australia. Andrew will be primarily based in the Sydney office and will travel regularly to all offices.

Luke de Jong
Luke de Jong has over 10 years experience as a commercial lawyer to Government, predominantly advising on commercial law and contract and procurement issues. As a former in-house legal officer for the Commonwealth Department of Employment, Education and Training, where he also held a number of policy-related positions, Luke understands the unique challenges Government faces in its dealings.
David Kreltszheim
David is Special Counsel in the E-Business, Financial Services and Privacy Practice Group of Clayton Utz. David advises a range of clients including financial institutions on general banking law, regulatory compliance, payment systems, electronic distribution systems and platforms, privacy, consumer finance, AML, FTRA and proceeds of crime compliance, and trade finance.
 Ben Madsen
Ben Madsen is a Special Counsel in our Corporate Advisory/M&A Group, specialising in Energy and Resources. Ben has been heavily involved in a range of major mining, energy and resources projects for some of Australia's leading mining and energy companies.
Christy Miller
Christy commenced at Clayton Utz in November 2004. Specialising in the provision of industrial relations, employment and discrimination advice, Christy provides both legal and strategic advice to assist a wide portfolio of clients. Christy has advised both private and public sector clients on all aspects of employment and industrial relations law, including but not limited to, where relevant, the impact and effective management of the WorkChoices amendments.
Simon Taylor
Simon has extensive commercial legal experience over a period of 20 years. Simon's legal career has taken him from Mollison & Litchfield in Adelaide to the banking and finance group of a national law firm in Sydney, then to the Electricity Trust of South Australia, to the Crown Solicitor's office in SA and the Northern Territory, and then to Clayton Utz in Perth. Prior to returning to Perth in early 2006, Simon worked as a senior legal adviser in a prominent Dubai law firm where he specialised in corporate commercial law.
Julia Virgo
Julia Virgo joined Clayton Utz in 2005 as the head of Knowledge Management for the LDR group nationally. With over 17 years legal experience, Julia has been instrumental in developing the firm's Knowledge Management capability, most notably managing the transition to Uniform Civil Procedure within NSW at Clayton Utz and is widely regarded for her expertise in this area. Julia was invited by the NSW Attorney-General's Working Party on Civil Procedure to assist with the redevelopment of court forms and the accompanying rules and has been engaged with this project for the last 18 months.
